2015 Chevrolet Tahoe Features in Shreveport and Monroe

The completely redesigned 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe is now available at Red River Chevrolet, and this SUV is amazing!  The full-size Tahoe SUV remains V8 powered to handle everything from the trails, to the highway, to towing and everything in between.

Just by looking at the new Chevy Tahoe, differences from the previous body style are apparent.  The exterior lines on the body are sculpted for a contemporary design with uniquely shaped headlamps, chrome grille, and an aerodynamic spoiler.  The interior has some of the most drastic changes however.  Technology is in no short supply with this SUV.  A full-color Driver Information Screen is located in the middle of the instrument cluster offering the driver several difference pieces of information and control metrics for things such as the entertainment, phone, and navigation.  Connecting your phone has never been easier thanks to the latest generation MyLink infotainment system.  The Tahoe offers up to Six USB ports and up to twelve charging locations for those portable devices.

More technology resides in the safety features in this Luxury SUV.  Some of these technologies include Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning, Cross-Traffic Alert, Vibration alerts in the seat, and of course – OnStar technology!

Colors available on the 2015 Tahoe include Black, Summit White, Silver Ice Metallic, Champagne Silver Metallic, Tungsten Metallic, Sable Metallic, White Diamond Tricoat, and Crystal Red Tintcoat.

Woman Trades 1914 Model T for a 2013 Corvette

We’re sure that dealers must see all sorts of interesting trade ins, but this one may take the cake. Red River Chevrolet in Bossier City, Louisiana, recently had a customer come in with an odd request. Tina Boyter wanted to trade in three vehicles on a brand-new 2013 Chevy Corvette. Among the hardware was 1980 Corvette, a 1978 Cadillac Eldorado and a 1914 Ford Model T. While the ’80 Corvette had been her personal car for years, the ’78 Eldorado had belonged to Boyter’s mother before she traded up to a Lincoln. The big Caddy had just 10,290 miles on the clock when it was traded in.

And the Model T? Boyter says the car was built as a racer by Ford, and that it had been a show winner for years when it belonged to her father. But, after spending the last 16 years in a museum with its fluids drained, Boyter decided it was time to shed some of the past. She walked into the dealer, laid eyes on a white 2LT Corvette with a red interior and offered to trade all three of the vehicles in on the sports car.

Why not wait for the C7? “I fell in love with that one when I walked in the door,” She said. We can’t fault her there.

As if this story wasn’t crazy enough, Red River Chevrolet had previously sold both Ford and Chevy products side-by-side when the dealership first opened in the early 1900s. The building still has hitching points for customer horses. Something tells us that this is a story with happy endings for all those involved.

The Sun VS Your Vehicle’s Paint

Well it seems summer time is here!  The temperatures are getting hotter and hotter around the Shreveport and Bossier City area!   Everyone seems to like the summer time, as you can go swimming, go to the beach, or just spend time outside.  However, just as your skin can get damaged by the intense sun, so can that new Chevrolet Silveradoor Camaro!

Vehicle’s paint today is much better than it was 20 years ago, but the sun can still fade and cause oxidation to the paint over time.  There are a few things that you can do to help keep your vehicle looking like the day it rolled off the showroom floor.  For starters, you will want to seek shade where you park your vehicle.  The direct sunlight can be very damaging, but when you park your vehicle out of the sun, you are preventing damage of the harmful UV rays that can damage not only your paint but also you headlights and any rubberized trim.

Below are a few more tips that can help your vehicle during the hot summer months.

Wash your vehicle often!
Washing your vehicle often and getting the pollution and grime off the paint is the first step.  It is best to wash it out of the direct sunlight as the paint will be more brittle when extremely hot.  Also, you should not scrub the tar and bugs on your vehicle because it will increase the likeliness that you will scratch the paint.  Instead, you should try “claying” your vehicle.  The clay is a safe way to remove all the debris from your vehicles paint.  Also, now days most car wash solutions include a type of wax that can help add a barrier for your paint.

Dry Thoroughly.
There are a lot of people who wash their vehicle and just let it air dry.  This can cause impurities in the water to be left behind on your paint when the water evaporates.  You should dry your vehicle with a soft cotton rag or a chamois.

Obviously waxing is one of the best way to help protect the paint on your vehicle and keep it shining for a long time to come!  Most waxes today also help combat the sun’s ultraviolet radiation.  Waxing will also prevent any dirt and grit from sticking to your vehicle’s paint.  This is definitely good for those nasty bird droppings that can eat at your paint!  If you want to learn more about waxing, make sure you check out our earlier post about waxing here.

My New Chevrolet Has Hail Damage!

So as you may know, the Shreveport and Bossier City area had a few storms roll through that produced some hail.  There was reported hail up to golf-ball size.  Red River Chevrolet was one of two dealerships in the area that got hit by the hail.

So, you have gotten hail damage on your vehicle, now what?

The first thing you will want to do is contact your insurance company and start a claim.  You will then be told where to take your vehicle for them to have the damage assessed by their own adjuster.  The adjuster will inspect the vehicle and write up an estimate on what it will cost to have the damage repaired.  Remember, that this is just an estimate and may not be completely accurate.  When and if you get the damage repaired, any difference between the actual amount for the repair and the estimate from the adjuster will be resolved between them two by a supplement.

The insurance adjuster is going to most likely recommend you to one of their preferred vendors, but remember that it is your choice as to where you want to have it repaired at.  It is actually illegal for an insurance company or their representative to require you to have your car repaired by any specific vendor.  Make sure you do not pick a vendor that you are not comfortable with, pick someone you trust!

Where to have the work done at?

There are a few different companies around town that do Paintless Dent Repair.  A lot of them will actually come to your location.  You can check out JTGroup in Shreveport, LA.  He has very good rates and will come to your location to fix the damage.  A simple search in Google for “Dent Repair” will pull up a list of companies around town.

So you have gotten a check from the insurance, now what?

When the insurance company has their estimate from the adjuster, they will generally issue you a check.  One thing to watch out for is that the amount of the check you will receive is generally less than the actual cost of what it would be to repair your vehicle.  This can help minimize the cost of the claim for the insurance company.  If you decide to NOT repair your vehicle and just cash the check you are basically settling the claim, and not getting the actual amount you should have gotten.

It can be very tempting to just cash the check and leave the damage on the vehicle as it is, but this could cause you to get less money for your vehicle if there is any other damage to your vehicle in the future.
