Chevy Silverado and Impala named Cars.com 2014 Car and Truck of the Year!

silveradocarscom impalacarscom

Cars.com picked the all-new 2014 Chevrolet Impala and the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado as its Best Car and Best Truck for 2014! These awards are presented each year at the North American International Auto Show. The award is a highly prestigious award, and for Patrick Olsen, editor-in-chief of Cars.com, states, “Winning just one of these awards for an automaker is pretty tough, given the high number of quality cars and trucks that debut each year. For Chevrolet to grab both awards show the depth of their ability to build desirable vehicles.”

The Silverado, along with the Impala, has been completely redesigned for the 2014 year. It earned its place at the top with its chassis strength, redesigned interior, and the new MyLink connected infotainment system. Alan Batey, General Motors senior vice president of Global Chevrolet states, “Winning these awards is a huge honor for Chevrolet. The fact that the top vehicles in both these categories is a Chevrolet speaks volumes about the strength of our entire portfolio”.

If you are looking to drive a Silverado in Shreveport and Bossier City or an Impala in Shreveport and Bossier City, make sure you come to Red River Chevrolet! We have a great selection of both vehicles! As always, make sure you follow us on Facebook and our blog to stay on top of everything happening with Chevrolet!

My New Chevrolet Has Hail Damage!

So as you may know, the Shreveport and Bossier City area had a few storms roll through that produced some hail.  There was reported hail up to golf-ball size.  Red River Chevrolet was one of two dealerships in the area that got hit by the hail.

So, you have gotten hail damage on your vehicle, now what?

The first thing you will want to do is contact your insurance company and start a claim.  You will then be told where to take your vehicle for them to have the damage assessed by their own adjuster.  The adjuster will inspect the vehicle and write up an estimate on what it will cost to have the damage repaired.  Remember, that this is just an estimate and may not be completely accurate.  When and if you get the damage repaired, any difference between the actual amount for the repair and the estimate from the adjuster will be resolved between them two by a supplement.

The insurance adjuster is going to most likely recommend you to one of their preferred vendors, but remember that it is your choice as to where you want to have it repaired at.  It is actually illegal for an insurance company or their representative to require you to have your car repaired by any specific vendor.  Make sure you do not pick a vendor that you are not comfortable with, pick someone you trust!

Where to have the work done at?

There are a few different companies around town that do Paintless Dent Repair.  A lot of them will actually come to your location.  You can check out JTGroup in Shreveport, LA.  He has very good rates and will come to your location to fix the damage.  A simple search in Google for “Dent Repair” will pull up a list of companies around town.

So you have gotten a check from the insurance, now what?

When the insurance company has their estimate from the adjuster, they will generally issue you a check.  One thing to watch out for is that the amount of the check you will receive is generally less than the actual cost of what it would be to repair your vehicle.  This can help minimize the cost of the claim for the insurance company.  If you decide to NOT repair your vehicle and just cash the check you are basically settling the claim, and not getting the actual amount you should have gotten.

It can be very tempting to just cash the check and leave the damage on the vehicle as it is, but this could cause you to get less money for your vehicle if there is any other damage to your vehicle in the future.

CNG Option to Cost $11,000 on GM Pickups

General Motors has recently released pricing for the bi-fuel option for the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD.  For those that want a truck that can run off of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Gasoline can expect to spend about $11,000 for the conversion.  Although that price may be hard to swallow, just remember that there is a tax credit when you get this done to your vehicle.  The amount of the credit will depend on your state, but it will definitely help with the cost.  Let’s not forget about the savings from not buying gas!

With the CNG conversion, these trucks are expected to have a range of about 650 miles.  This option is also going to be available on any heavy-duty truck configuration, including four-wheel drive and extended cab models.

GM has stated that this option is a way for business owners to protect themselves from the high gas prices.

Black Diamond Edition 2013 Avalanche

As you may or may not know, the 2013 Avalanche will mark the last year the Chevrolet Avalanche will be produced.  I think there are definitely mixed feeling about it going away, some people don’t care for it, but there are a ton of people that absolutely love the vehicle.  Personally, I really like the Avalanche.  One can not deny that it has one VERY smooth ride!  Because it is built on the same chassis as the Tahoe and Suburban, the ride is excellent!

In order to give the loyal customers of the Avalanche a final farewell, GM has decided to produce a special edition Avalance for its last year – A Black Diamond Edition.  On top of that, the MSRP will be cut $2500!  GM states, that this is a way of saying “Thank You” to all the fans of the truck.  Only time will tell to see if we get anything similar to that vhehicle

Chevrolet Camaro 1LE Trim for 2013 Model

General Motors has release an office press release about a new performance track package that will be available for the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro.  It will boast numerous tweaks.  Some of them include an aggressive-looking front and rear spoiler which will both be painted in smoke gray.  Red Brembo brakes and 20-inch wheels and Goodyear Eagle Supercar tires will be part of the package as well!

There are many features that will separate this car from the other Camaros as well.  From an optional dual-mode exhaust (similar to what is found on the Corvette) to a higher 3.91 final drive and liquid cooling system which is also standard, the Camaro 1LE will be a track vehicle to keep pace with the Boss 302.

What do you think about the vehicle?

Chevy Sonic Turbo Now with Automatic Transmission!

Up until now, the Chevrolet Sonic was only available with an automatic transmission on the 1.8-liter naturally aspirated inline-four.  This is no longer the case, as Chevrolet has announced that they will be offering the 1.4L Turbo charged engine in the automatic in an attempt to appeal to a much wider range of shoppers.

Although you will see a dip in the fuel economy on the car when going to an automatic transmission, at 27/37 (city/highway) mpg, it still seems pretty good in our book!

The automatic Sonic Turbo is now available.
