If you read the post about the Nurburgring lap time of 7:41.27 then you should know that the Camaro ZL1 is a beat of a vehicle! Offering a Supercharged 6.2L LSA V8 putting up 580 HP with 556 lb.-ft. of torque, the ZL1 beat top exotics like the Porsche 911 GT and the Nissan GT-R.
All of this in the Camaro ZL1 makes it the fastest Camaro ever produced from Chevrolet. Well, soon there will be another first. The Convertible model! The Convertible ZL1 will offer more power than some of the exotic drop-top models such as the Aston Martin DB9 Volante and the Mercedes SL63 AMG.
Al Oppenheiser, the Camaro’s chief engineer, said it quite well, “The Camaro ZL1 convertible will be one of the most powerful and most capable convertibles available at any price. This is a car that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face every time you drop the top—or hit the gas.”
The ZL1 Coupe and Convertible models will offer some of the most sophisticated technology for vehicle performance in the world. It will include the latest generation of GM's magnetic Ride Control, which can adjust damping up to 1,000 times per second. Also featured is GM's exclusive Performance Traction Management System which integrates with the magnetic ride control, launch control, traction control, and electronic stability control for extreme, enhanced off-the-line acceleration and cornering.
This will be the most powerful Convertible, GM has ever produced. It is most definitely the most powerful Camaro ever produced! The Convertible ZL1 is scheduled to arrive at your local Chevrolet Dealership early next year which will make it just in time for summer!
