Next Generation Silverado Produced in Flint

GM released a statement that the next generation Silverado full-sized pickup trucks will be produced in Flint, Michigan.  GM states that it will be investing $328 Million in its Flint plant.  Those trucks are currently manufactured in Silao, Mexico, and were built in Oshawa, Canada before that.  It is good to see that they are coming home!

The heavy duty versions of the Chevy Silverado are already being manufactured at the Flint plant, so adding the light-duty trucks will have all the trucks under one roof!  This effort is part of the $2 Billion dollar plan that will create or retain 4,000 jobs over 17 assembly plants.  150 of those positions will be at the flint assembly plant.

The next generation Silverados are planned to hit the market for the 2013 year.  These trucks will have numerous changes as well as better fuel economy!
