Here in Shreveport, Louisiana, we have our General Motors plant that produces the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon. This vehicle is scheduled to cease production sometime next year. However, as we all know, things can change. Now, it seems that Ford is getting ready to halt production of its Ford Ranger, so it seems strange for GM not to keep its mid-size trucks in the market place. Time will only tell though.
Not far from us, is another GM plant. In Arlington, TX the GM plant there produces such vehicles as the Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and the Cadillac Escalade. Obviously this division of vehicles is not going away anytime soon, so it only makes sense that as part of GM investment of its plants that the Arlington Plant be one of them. GM released a press statement about this and according to that, GM will be putting 331 Million dollars for rennovations to get ready for the next generation of these vehicles. Also, this will generate 110 new jobs out at the plant. Definitely can’t argue with that!
It is good to see that GM is getting back in its groove, and for us over in Shreveport, and Bossier City, we hope that something changes with our GM Plant here. We do not want to see it go. We will just have to wait and see what the future holds.
