Well, it has happened! Four years after GM first revealed the Chevrolet Volt at the Detroit Auto Show, the first one was delivered. Today, just before 9 a.m., Jeff Kaffee of Parsippany, N.J., took the keys to his silver Volt.
The extended-range electric car left General Motors’ Detroit-Hamtramck plant early Monday. It arrived at Gearhart Chevrolet in Denville, N.J. on Tuesday night. Kaffee flew home Monday from his vacation at Fort Lauderdale, Florida because he heard the Volt would be ready to pick up. He traded in his 2005 Toyota Prius hybrid because he states, “I considered that the best car at the time… The Prius is a fine car, but this is definitely the next step forward.”
As Judy Schumacher-Tilton handed Jeff Kaffee the keys to his brand new Chevrolet Volt, she stated, “The future is here, and America is back in the game.”
