GM Open House!
On August 18, 2010, General Motors Detroit released a statement that by the end of 2011, all 54 of its United States manufacturing plants will pick a date for an open house. GM states that this is being done to help the population learn about the company’s people, product, and plants.
Each of the 54 plants will pick a date to allow the community to come inside and see what the plant is all about. They will also be having numerous open-house events. GM says that it wants to underscore the fact that it employs thousands of workers in locations across the country, and that since 2009, the automaker has created or saved 7,900 jobs in 21 localities around the U.S.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to see the skill and dedication of our UAW men and women who are proud of their accomplishments in building the finest vehicles not only in this country, but in the world,” said Joe Ashton, UAW Vice President-GM Department.
Since, Red River Chevrolet is in the Shreveport, Bossier City area in Louisiana, we will be keeping our ears open for the open-house event at the General Motors Shreveport Assembly Plant, which produces the Chevrolet Colorado at the moment.
